libbamtools-dev software package provides C++ API for manipulating BAM (genome alignment) files, you can install in your Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libbamtools-dev
libbamtools-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libbamtools-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libbamtools-dev *
You will get with libbamtools-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
